ABOUT
Program Mission and History
The Alaska Violent Crimes Compensation Board (VCCB) and the Crime Victim Compensation Fund [AS 18.67.162] was introduced in 1972 and established in 1973. They were one of the first such state compensation programs in the nation.
While compensation doesn’t make lives torn by violence whole, it may lessen the financial burden and provide hope. Emotionally, VCCB assistance is an acknowledgment that someone has suffered a traumatic event and should be compensated for their losses, which can be a huge factor in helping a victim/survivor get on the road to recovery.
