Victim Confidentiality

The information you share with the Violent Crimes Compensation Board (VCCB) is confidential and protected under AS. 18.67.030. This applies to all material in your file.

The release of information (ROI) you sign as part of your application allows us to collect information for the purposes of processing your application.

Requests for information will depend on the type of assistance you are seeking. The VCCB may seek additional information depending on the applications needs.

For the purposes of transparency, summaries of general information regarding agency activities will be public, including types of services provided and total dollars spent. Examples can be found in the Annual Report published each year. This information will not contain any personally identifiable information.

Agencies outside of the VCCB may have Coordinators or Paralegals with other rules for confidentiality. It is important to ask, if you have any questions regarding confidentiality.
